Over 50 lakh contestants from across the country have applied to be part of the fourth season of the much-awaited Kaun Banega Crorepati ( KBC ), to be hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. " KBC phone lines opened on August 2, and within eight days we had more than 50 lakh participants registering with us.

But only 1233 contestants among them have been shortlisted making it the most exhaustive selection process for the show anywhere in the world," Danish Khan, Vice-President (Marketing) Sony Entertainment Television told reporters. Auditions were being held to determine the final contestants in Lucknow, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

" KBC audition is probably the biggest 'joint entrance exam' in India where successful registrants from across the country and from different socio-economic backgrounds will compete," Ajit Thakur, business head of the channel said. An adaption of the American television gameshow Who Wants to be a Millionaire , KBC rewrote television ratings in the industry after Star Plus introduced it in 2000.

After three editions of the hugely-successful format, Sony TV bought the rights of the show this year. With plans to limit the fourth edition to 13 weeks, the channel is eyeing a launch during Diwali.

"We will start the show in between Dussehra and Diwali," Khan said, adding that the production house, Big Synergy, is currently assessing a fresher and reworked format to appeal to audience and overcome viewer fatigue. Besides reducing the number of questions to 12 from 15, there will also be a time limit to answer the first few questions.

They did, I agreed and KBC took its initial steps. It soon became apparent that it was going to be big and prosperous.

I merely sat back and played the game as best it could be played. Before long I was out of the financial crisis and signing on an almost two-year deal with the channel that was carrying it," he added.

The first three instalments of the KBC was aired on STAR Plus. Big B's got into financial crisis when Amitabh Bachchan Corporation ltd (ABCL) started running in loss.

He tried to get out of this situation by signing "Mrityudaata" (1997), but the film failed miserably at the box office. Three years later he got the offer to host KBC and after that there was no looking for this megastar who charted a new success story

Amitabh nervousness in KBC shoot

He made television history by hosting quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati but megastar Amitabh Bachchan is “nervous” about his third innings on the show.

Bachchan said as he gears up for the recordings for KBC, his nerves are on edge. “KBC …!! after 10 years ! A new generation in command … new challenge and new expectation .. expectation is the killer !!,” Bachchan tweeted.

“Hold my hand dearest ones and give me the strength to deliver … breathe into me your affection and I shall carry it with me on set!,” the 67-year-old star asked his fans.

Preity Zinta tried to cheer up the actor by tweeting, “All the best for the show Amitji !!! Looking forward to it. We all know it will rock and you will rock! Lotza love always!”

KBC 4 : prize money to Rs 5 crore

Amitabh Bachchan-hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) game show, which begins its fourth season from the megastar’s birthday on October 11, has increased the prize money to Rs 5 crore.

This was announced at a press conference here by Bachchan and Sidhharth Basu of Big Synergy, the producer of the popular quiz show to be aired on Sony TV.

“Even though the basic format remain unchanged, the show will be faster and crispier this time. There will be 12 questions for Rs one crore and the last one would be the jackpot of Rs 5 crore,” Bachchan said.

A new life line ‘ask an expert’ would be introduced this time besides the earlier ones — audience poll and phone a friend, Bachchan said.

Several celebrities would appear on the show. Instead of a single participant, a team would play this time around, Basu said, adding the prize money would go to charity.

Also, under a new concept of ‘Ghadiyal babu’, the participants would have to answer the first two questions in 30 seconds and the next five in 45 seconds. After the seventh question, there will be no time limit, Basu said.

KBC and Bigg Boss

With Kaun Banega Crorepati being aired on Sony Channel, Colors have also come up with Bigg Boss.
The former will be hosted by Mr Bachchan and the latter by Salman Khan. Last year Mr Bachchan hosted Bigg Boss.

With season one of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)', the entire nation was held in raptures as none other than the living legend of Bollywood - Amitabh Bachchan with his deep baritone voice took over TV screens. Well time has passed and the fourth season is here, with the audience waiting anxiously for the first episode.

1] Participant is required to submit all required documentation with all the original Documents like :- birth certificate, leaving certificate or passport to show their eligibility of participant.

2] In Round 1, 2, 3 the participant are not allow to repeat any question, If any one catch while doing so at that moment he/she shall be immediately disqualified.

3] If participant gives correct answer in 1st round, he will get a call from the KBC in just 3 days.

4] As per the agreement participant get all the travel and living cost from the KBC. If participant live in Mumbai itself then Company return only the travel cost .

5] Every entry can be consider as valid when the question displays after the show. In other case the entry consider as Invalid.

6] KBC has full rights to get all the money from the winner if any fraud condition, Participant can’t claim on KBC for this and don’t take any kind of extra illegal help .

7] Every participant can take only 1 time part in Fastest Finger First round for KBC-4 This is his first and last chance to sit on the HOST seat with Amithabh Bachachan.
